We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Safety Officer

Location: Gujeni, Kaduna
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Set up safety operational procedures that will identify any hazards in the workplace.
  • Regularly inspect the work area to ensure that company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Make sure that the company supports safe work practices and complies with the law.
  • Help the company develop H&S strategies and plans.
  • Keep up to date with H&S legislation that will affect the company.
  • Undertaking risk assessments
  • Provide advice with regards to particular topics, such as occupational illnesses, safeguarding company equipment and fire risk.
  • Liaising with relevant authorities.
  • Help write management reports, including bulletins and newsletters.
  • List all workplace accidents and incidents for reporting and statistical purposes.
  • Providing health and safety training courses for employees and managers
  • Writing internal health and safety policies/strategies.
  • Conduct risk assessments and list all the possible ways to reduce them.
  • Make a note of review findings and suggest improvements.

Requirements

  • Relevant Degree from a recognized higher institution.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience preferably from a mining and steel or construction industry.
  • Good analytical and problemsolving ability.
  • Candidate living in close proximity to Kaduna and its environs are preferred.
  • Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team
  • Excellent knowlegde/experience on hazard identification and risk assesment and control.
