Job Description
- Our client is looking to recruit focused, energetic, results driven, committed and experienced individual, who is willing to live within the school facility, to fill the role of a House Assistant to manage boarding House Students and the facility in a full - time capacity.
Job Overview
- Assist the Matron/House Parent in overseeing daily boarding operations.
- Support student welfare, safety, and well-being.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive, and respectful boarding environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Morning wake-up and evening checks on students.
- Supervise students during meals, study sessions, and leisure time.
- Monitor dormitory cleanliness and organization.
- Assist with laundry, ironing, and distribution of clean clothes.
- Help with meal supervision and snack distribution.
- Support students with homework, projects, or personal issues.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and incidents.
- Communicate with teachers, parents, and school administrators as needed.
- Provide emotional support and guidance to students.
- Mediate conflicts and resolve minor issues.
- Encourage positive relationships among students.
- Foster a sense of community and belonging.
- Assist with student arrivals and departures.
- Manage keys, lockers, and lost-and-found items.
- Coordinate student activities, events, and outings.
- Maintain inventory of boarding supplies and equipment.
- Assist with budgeting and expense tracking.
- Monitor student health and report concerns to the Matron/Nurse.
- Administer basic first aid.
- Ensure compliance with school health and safety policies.
- Conduct regular dormitory inspections.
- Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Collaborate with other House Assistants and school staff.
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Hostel Matron.
Key Skills and Qualities
- A First Degree in any discipline
- +3 years previous work experience as a House Assistant in a reputable boarding school
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with diverse students and staff.
- Emotional intelligence and empathy.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Flexibility and adaptability.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
