Advocacy for Resilience and Innovative Solutions for Youths, Women, and Children Empowerment (ARISE Youths, Women, and Children) is a women-led, non-profit organization dedicated to transforming prolonged hardships caused by insurgency, natural disasters, and economic challenges into pathways for growth and renewal. ARISE is committed to amplifying voices, providing protection, and empowering marginalized, distressed, and displaced individuals to build resilient and self-sufficient futures.

ARISE is actively involved in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through various focus areas but not limited to, Poverty alleviation, zero hunger, health, education, clean water and sanitation, gender equality, environment and climate change, girls’ and women’s empowerment, and Social and Economic Advancement. By developing innovative programs focused on training, skills acquisition, advocacy, and access to financial services, our efforts aim to reduce dependency on limited relief assistance, harnessing resilience mechanisms, and leveraging local resources at the individual, family, and community levels.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Finance Manager

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices for ARISE Youths, Women and Children’s financial operations as well as for general compliance.
  • Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
  • Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.
  • Advise and provide strategies that the organization should take
  • Develop trends and projections for the organization’s finances.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certification such as ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is preferred.
  • (A master’s degree in Accounting, Auditing or Finance will be an added advantage.)
  • Professional certification in finance or accounting from a recognized professional body (e.g., CFA, ACCA, ICAN, etc.).
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in non-profit, financial management and administration, preferably in the humanitarian or development sector.
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations, with experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and grants management.
  • Proficiency in financial software and systems, with experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks, SAP, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data, identify trends, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and work as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail in handling confidential and sensitive information.
