Job Summary

  • The Surveillance Technician is responsible for monitoring the integrity and security of Torupere Nigeria Limited's pipeline infrastructure through the use of surveillance systems, data analysis, and periodic field inspections. This role is crucial for detecting potential threats, preventing leaks and spills, and ensuring the safe operation of pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor surveillance systems, including CCTV cameras, intrusion detection systems, and SCADA systems, to ensure continuous surveillance of pipeline infrastructure.
  • Analyze surveillance data, identify anomalies and potential threats, and report findings to the Pipeline Surveillance & Security Team Lead.
  • Conduct routine field inspections of pipeline right-of-ways, using various methods such as foot patrols, vehicle patrols, and aerial surveillance, to detect leaks, damage, encroachment, or any suspicious activity.
  • Document and report surveillance findings accurately and promptly, maintaining clear and concise records of observations, incidents, and maintenance needs.
  • Respond to alerts and alarms generated by surveillance systems, coordinating with the security team and other relevant personnel to ensure a rapid and effective response to potential threats or emergencies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and testing of surveillance equipment to ensure its proper functioning and reliability, troubleshooting any technical issues that may arise.
  • Assist in the implementation of enhanced monitoring protocols, new technologies, and security measures to improve the effectiveness of pipeline surveillance operations.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certification in Security Management, Electronic Technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in asset surveillance, security operations, or a related field, ideally within the oil and gas sector.
  • Familiarity with various surveillance equipment, technologies, and protocols, including CCTV systems, intrusion detection systems, and SCADA systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, observation skills, and the ability to identify potential threats or anomalies in surveillance data and field inspections.
  • Good communication and reporting skills to effectively convey surveillance findings and incident reports.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and sometimes challenging environment.
