Job Summary

  • A leading International Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Company requires for immediate employment suitably a suitably qualified candidate fir the position of Principal Control Engineer.

Job Description

  • Promote a Goal Zero Safety and Quality culture, ensuring compliance at the worksite.
  • Enforce HSE policies and procedures at company worksites.
  • Review and provide input on technical specifications, P&IDs, and other detailed engineering documents for subsea control systems and interfacing systems.
  • Respond to subsea control and distribution-related queries and technical clarification requests from contractors.
  • Oversee the manufacturing and fabrication of MCS (Master Control System), EPU (Electrical Power Unit), HPU (Hydraulic Power Unit), EJB, TUPA, SCMs, and hardware-mounted controls, ensuring compliance with project specifications, procedures, design documentation, and approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) through testing.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical workshops, HAZID, HAZOP, and other assigned meetings.
  • Drive timely, efficient, and safe project execution in alignment with the project schedule.
  • Witness fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing activities at the fabrication site to confirm compliance with approved procedures.
  • Oversee site activities, including Site Receipt Inspection, Site Integration, Factory Acceptance Test, Extended Factory Acceptance Test, and System Integration Test, ensuring compliance with approved procedures.
  • Work with contractors to identify, document, report, and address quality issues.
  • Author and deliver daily, weekly, and monthly status, progress, and site reports.
  • Oversee material and goods receipt, inspection, verification checks, and reporting.
  • Coordinate integration tests across packages and disciplines.
  • Review and provide input on assembly and testing procedures, storage, preservation, transportation, installation, and offshore testing.
  • Ensure the Materials Record Book, Certificates of Conformance, and technical documentation are available prior to equipment loadout.
  • Coordinate logistics at the fabrication site to ensure timely packaging, transportation, and safe load-out of equipment to the vessel.
  • Collaborate with the company’s Lifting and Hoisting SME to review lift plans, rigging registers, and support safe lifting operations.
  • Supervise offshore installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of subsea control systems.
  • Liaise with Project Engineers responsible for other project packages to manage interfaces and ensure project compliance.
  • Organize and participate in meetings and design reviews with contractor engineers and technicians.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, including Quality, HSE, project control, engineering, planning, Information & Digital Technology, operations, wells, marine, logistics, aviation, subsea intervention, etc., to secure project support.
  • Log and track lessons learned during detailed design and manufacturing activities within the package.
  • Review operations and maintenance manuals and guidelines issued by contractors.
  • Travel to fabrication sites, OEM facilities, and offshore vessels in the Gulf of Guinea as part of service responsibilities.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Minimum of 15 years of work experience, with at least 10 years in designing, installing, or upgrading automation and control systems within the oil and gas industry, with a focus on deepwater projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Subsea Engineering with professional registration.
  • Strong understanding and practical application of industry standards and codes, including API 17F/ISO 13628-6, API 17H, API RP 17N, ASME B31.3, ASME IX, and IEC 60287.
  • Practical experience with subsea control systems OEMs.
  • Experience in developing subsea control specifications and data sheets.
  • Ability to communicate, work, and influence effectively within a multi-disciplinary, globally located team.
  • Knowledge of personal and process safety.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, ideally with relevant certifications.
  • Proficiency in MS Office or similar software.
