The Federal University of Agriculture, Zuru was established following the assent to its establishment bill by the President, His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari GCFR on 25th July, 2019, making it the fourth University of Agriculture in Nigeria, situated in the Northwest region of the country. The University operates three Colleges with ten (10) degree-awarding programs in Agriculture, Basic Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine.

Job Title: Vice-Chancellor

Job Description

  • The Vice-Chancellor shall be the Chief Executive and Academic Officer of the University and shall exercise general supervision.
  • The Vice-Chancellor shall chair the Senate, serve as an ex-officio member of the Governing Council, and be responsible to the Council for managing the University’s human, financial, and material resources.

Qualities of the Applicant for the Post
Applicants for the post of Vice-Chancellor must:

  • Be a distinguished Professor with demonstrable academic leadership and proven management capacity.
  • Have not less than five (5) years of experience at the professorial rank in Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, or Natural Sciences.
  • Be a scholar with a proven record of national and international scholarship.
  • Understand the vision, mission, and mandate of the Federal University of Agriculture Zuru.
  • Be innovative, inspire advancement in learning, and provide effective leadership.
  • Have the capacity for prudent resource management.
  • Possess cognate administrative experience.
  • Command the respect and loyalty of University staff and students.
  • Foster integration without discrimination based on race, color, ethnicity, gender, religion, or other intolerances.
  • Be morally sound with unquestionable integrity.
  • Be in sound health.
  • Be proficient in ICT.
  • Have the capacity to generate and attract funds.

Age of Applicants:

  • Eligible candidates should not be more than sixty-five (65) years at the time of assumption of office.

Tenure

  • The appointment shall be for a single term of five (5) years only.

Conditions of Service

  • Conditions of service shall be as applicable to the post of Vice-Chancellor in Nigerian Federal Universities.
