We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Cost Controller

Location: Nigeria

Description 

  • The Cost Controller is responsible for managing and monitoring all financial aspects of projects within an organization.
  • This includes developing cost-tracking systems, analyzing financial performance, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints.
  • The role requires close collaboration with project managers, engineering teams, procurement, and finance departments to ensure effective cost management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for controlling and monitoring project total expenditure including verifying of invoices and claims from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors to ensure that all project expenditures are captured and properly recorded.
  • Prepare and evaluate cost estimates, forecasts, and financial plans for projects.
  • Assist in the development of the overall project control strategy.
  • Monitor project expenditures to ensure they align with the approved budget.
  • Prepare regular cost reports and variance analyses to inform management and stakeholders.
  • Analyze financial performance against budgets and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Evaluate the financial impact of changes in scope, schedule, or project requirements.
  • Assist in the development and management of Change Orders and negotiate terms with subcontractors and supplier.
  • Collaborate with project teams to enhance understanding of financial risks related to project execution.
  • Work closely with procurement teams to ensure that all materials and services are purchased within budget.
  • Track procurement costs and provide insights to optimize allocation.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records and documentation for all projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing processes and cost allocation.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams including contracting, engineering, and finance to support decision-making.
  • Provide cost-related advice and expertise to project teams and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10-15 years of work experience in an EPC Company
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Cost Engineer/Cost Analyst certification) are a plus
  • Proven experience in cost control, project controls, or financial analysis within an EPC environment.
  • Strong knowledge of project management processes and cost control techniques.
  • Proficiency in cost control software and tools (e.g., SAP, Primavera P6, MS Excel).
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
