Job Title: Associate Manager, Business Development
Location: Abuja
Reports to: Head of Business Development
Role Objective
- To contribute to the strategic growth of DAI by working with the BD team members (local and global) to win work in Nigeria across various clients.
Job Responsibilities
Facilitate winning new business in Nigeria and other business units. Related subtasks include:
- Lead and manage the development of local proposals across market segments – donor, foundation, private sector and Government of Nigeria.
- Develop & cultivate strong relationships with potential clients, while maintaining existing client relationships
- Develop and implement short-term and long-term strategies for business expansion.
- Work with the finance team to cost proposals.
- Proactively track and engage with market segments to identify business opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with DAI’s business units – USG, HMG, EU and other technical teams – to win opportunities based in Nigeria by facilitating recons (field and secondary research), incubators and writing proposal sections.
- Facilitate field research for proposal development.
- Conduct on-line background/contextual research and analysis relevance to proposal opportunities.
- Support the local Project Management Unit as required.
- Undertake billable project work when the opportunity arises.
- Other duties as specified by the Head of BD and other assigned authorities.
Qualifications and Person Specification
- Master’s Degree with 4- 6 years’ experience in the international development sector.
- Experience developing/ managing proposals for various clients including USAID, FCDO, EU, BMGF and others.
- Good relationship in the development sector covering donors and implementers.
- Broad knowledge of international development market trends
- Interest/ limited experience in investment banking will be a plus.
- Strong collaboration and networking skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
