Job Title: Clinical Instructor

Location: Yola, Adamawa
Employment Type: Full Time
Department: School of Basic Medical & Health Sciences

Summary of the Position

  • The Clinical Instructor will be responsible for helping students to acquire appropriate knowledge, skills and attitudes required of professional nurses.
  • The ideal candidate will support students in using methods of problem solving and higher level of thinking in nursing and personal relationships, through individual and clinical group conferences.
  • S/he will work closely with the Chair of the department in formulating and implementing course structures that would translate to effective knowledge, skills and attitudes of courses in line with the development philosophy of the American University of Nigeria.

Detailed Listing of Responsibilities

  • Develop and prepare students, to acquire knowledge, skills and attitude required of professional nurses.
  • Support students in using methods of problem solving and higher thinking level in nursing.
  • Provide effective instruction and assessment during clinical practice trainings of undergraduate nursing students in classrooms, lab, hospital and community facilities.
  • Develop lesson plans, giving lectures and evaluating students both in clinical settings and through examinations and assignments.
  • Tutor and mentor students.
  • Give lessons that allow students to increase their knowledge of subjects.
  • Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Requirements

  • BNSC in Nursing and must be a registered Nurse with NMCN.
  • An outstanding clinical and teaching record from a reputable hospital or training institution.
  • Experience in clinical practice and nursing procedures.
  • Most possess knowledge in infection control, direct supervision, clinical training and health assessment.
  • Experience in medication administration, and student performance.
  • Most demonstrate leadership skills.

Other requirements, abilities for the position:

  • Experience of working in hospitals
  • Experience of curriculum development.
  • Experience of organizing conferences and workshops.
