Job Title: Water Treatment Plant Operator

Position Overview

• The Water Treatment Plant Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of water treatment facilities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and effective treatment of water to meet regulatory and quality standards.
• This role involves monitoring equipment, performing routine maintenance, conducting water quality tests, and ensuring compliance with environmental and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities
Operations and Monitoring:

• Operate and monitor water treatment systems, including pumps, valves, filters, and chemical feed equipment.
• Adjust treatment processes based on water quality tests and system performance.
• Record and analyze operational data, including flow rates, pressure, and chemical dosages.
• Inspect equipment and treatment systems regularly to ensure functionality and efficiency.

Water Quality Testing and Compliance:

• Perform routine water quality tests to check pH, chlorine levels, turbidity, and other parameters.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal water quality standards.
• Identify and troubleshoot any water quality issues promptly.

Maintenance and Repairs:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on water treatment equipment and systems.
• Identify and report mechanical or operational issues for repair.
• Assist in repairing pumps, valves, and chemical feed systems as needed.

Chemical Handling:

• Safely handle and apply water treatment chemicals such as chlorine, lime, and coagulants.
• Monitor chemical inventory and request restocking to maintain continuous operations.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Maintain detailed logs of plant operations, maintenance, and water quality data.
• Prepare reports on plant performance, water quality, and compliance status.
• Submit daily, weekly, or monthly reports to management and regulatory bodies as required.

Emergency Response:

• Respond promptly to system alarms, equipment malfunctions, and emergency situations.
• Coordinate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve urgent issues.

Health and Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to all workplace safety and environmental policies.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure safe chemical handling practices.
• Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
