Duties and Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the PPO Relations with Member States, the Programme Officer will:
- Serve as the Focal Point for relations with Special Representatives and Permanent Representatives
- Ensure and promote effective communication between the Commission and these Bodies working in close collaboration with relevant Technical Directorates
- Assist in updating the data base and addresses ECOWAS Special Representative and Permanent Representatives
- Contribute to the orientation and to the conception of the activity programmes of the Directorate
Qualifications/Experience/Skills
- A bachelor's degree in International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration or a related field
- Eight years professional experience with two (2) in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Possession of higher degree would reduce the years of professional experience to six (6) years with two years in a supervisory or managerial capacity
- Experience in an international organization would be an advantage
- Excellent knowledge of national mechanisms for regional programme coordination would be an advantage
- Must be computer literate
- Have very good communication skills
- Should not be 50 years old or over at the point of recruitment and must be a citizen of one of the ECOWAS member states.
- Must be fluent in one of the official languages of the Commission; English, French and Portuguese. A working knowledge of another would be an advantage.
