Job Title: GIS Specialist (UAV Production Facility)

Job Description

• A GIS Specialist (Geographic Information Systems Specialist) is responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting spatial data to support various operations, including mapping, navigation, and geographic data analysis.
• In the context of UAV production, a GIS Specialist plays a critical role in utilizing geographic data for mission planning, flight path analysis, and geospatial data collection.

Key Responsibilities

• Integrate GIS sensors, cameras, and data collection tools into UAV platforms for mapping and geospatial data acquisition.
• Ensure proper integration of GPS/GNSS and other positioning systems (e.g., RTK, PPK) to enable precise georeferencing of collected data.
• Oversee and manage the collection of geospatial data (e.g., aerial imagery, terrain models, 3D mapping, point clouds) using UAV systems for various GIS applications.
• Process and analyze raw geospatial data (e.g., imagery, LiDAR, thermal) collected by UAVs using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape).
• Conduct quality checks to ensure that GIS data from UAVs meets project accuracy standards and geospatialrequirements.
• Organize and manage geospatial datasets, ensuring that all collected data is properly stored, backed up, and cataloged for future use.
• Work closely with UAV engineers, avionics teams, and software developers to integrate GIS software, data handling, and mapping tools into UAV operations.
• Maintain accurate records of GIS data collection procedures, system configurations, and quality control processes.

Skills & Qualifications
Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in GIS, Geography, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, or related fields.
• Experience: 2+ years of experience working with GIS software, geospatial data collection, and UAV systems.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape) and data processing tools for UAV applications.
• Experience with UAV-specific GIS tools, such as RTK/PPK systems, LiDAR, multispectral, or thermal sensors.
• Strong knowledge of geospatial data formats (e.g., GeoTIFF, Shapefile, LAS/LAZ) and GIS databases.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in GIS (e.g., GISP or Esri Technical Certifications) or drone mapping.
• Experience with UAV-based photogrammetry, LiDAR, orremote sensing technologies.
• Familiarity with UAV-based surveying applications for industries like agriculture, mining, construction, or environmental monitoring.
• Knowledge of advanced data analysis techniques, such as 3D modeling, terrain analysis, or geospatial data fusion.
