News: Globacom Nigeria to Create About 10,000 Jobs

Globacom - In line with the CBN regulatory policy on money transfer, the innovative indigenous telecommunications network, Globacom has introduced Glo Xchange Super Agent, an easy way of mobile money transfer using available modern technology which guarantees security of the transaction.

According to Globacom management official, Glo Xchange was introduced to speed up financial inclusion in the country as well as take cashless transactions and e-payments to the grassroots in order to enable mobile phone users to make payments, do transfers, buy airtime, pay utility bills such as, Dstv, GoTV, and PHCN among others; pay expressway tolls and conduct any such financial transactions without cash exchange, but through the mobile phone.

Again, for a better understanding and easy transaction of Glo Xchange Super Agent network, intensive awareness is going on across the country in Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Pigin English to properly educate the 30 million targeted customers in Nigeria.

The Glo Xchange Super Agents which saves operators the stress of going to queue in banks for transactions can be done with your mobile phone. It tends to create about 10,000 jobs in the economy.

However, to sustain this well articulated initiative and innovation, Globacom is partnering First Bank, Ecobank, Stanbic IBTC and Zenith Banks to make this a success in the life of Nigerians.

According to Globacom’s Head of Mobile Money Financial Business, Mr. Esaie Diei at the commercial roll out of Glo Xchange Agents in Lagos, said, the possibility of a customer falling into the hands of fraudsters has been taken care of by the dedicated toll-free Agent-Care short number 33003.

He said that customer can send an SMS with the phone number of an agent to the short code, 33003 to confirm if the particular agent is genuine or not, saying the same short code will also provide the customer with the location of the nearest Glo Xchange agent and also answer other enquiries, free of charge. He also announced the introduction of a dedicated USSD short code, *800# that will allow Glo Xchange agents to access the mobile money services of any partner Mobile Money Operator (MMO).

The event signifies the release of about 1,000 market-ready agents into the market for Globacom’s mobile money service, Glo Xchange, which is Nigeria’s first mobile money super-agent network.

This is sequel to the successful Glo Xchange training programme for thousands of potential agents last year, in over 30 states in the country.
