The Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri is one of the foremost Polytechnics in Nigeria, located in the South-East Geopolitical Zone, Imo State precisely. It was established by the Imo State Edict No. 16 of 1978 as the College of Technology, Owerri, later changed to the Polytechnic Nekede in 1987, and further renamed Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri by the Federal Polytechnics (Amendment) Act of 1993. Her academic programmes which are housed in seven (7) Schools are duly accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
