We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Marine Engineer

Location: Offshore, Akwa Ibom
Employment Type: Contract

Main Functions

  • Evaluate and provide feedback on engineering work, ensuring alignment with company specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Facilitate the execution of engineering and design tasks to meet team objectives and procedures.
  • Ensure effective communication among team members and across functions regarding engineering activities, progress, and challenges.
  • Exhibit strong technical skills alongside communication, facilitation, and interpersonal abilities.

Tasks and Responsibilities
In addition to Level 1 responsibilities, a Level 2 Marine Engineer will:

  • Design and oversee the testing, installation, and repair of marine apparatus and equipment.
  • Conduct analytical, environmental, operational, or performance studies to develop marine engine and equipment designs.
  • Prepare or supervise the creation of product layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics.
  • Evaluate marine equipment operation during acceptance testing and shakedown cruises.
  • Analyze data to assess the feasibility of product proposals.
  • Collaborate with research personnel to clarify issues and refine designs.
  • Inspect and observe machinery tests to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Conduct performance and environmental tests on marine machinery and equipment.
  • Establish test conditions, sequences, and phases for equipment testing.
  • Oversee and coordinate marine machinery repair and installation.
  • Inspect equipment to create work requests and job specifications.
  • Review work requests, comparing them with past jobs to ensure economic soundness.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marine or Civil Engineering, or a related specialty (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Strong knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and safety criteria.
  • Ability to handle tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent English communication skills (technical and business).

Specific Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an engine room officer on motor tanker vessels, steam ships, FSO, or FPSO.
  • Minimum qualification: OOW-Eng with associated marine certifications.
