Job Title: Senior Legal Associate (Practice Area Specialist)

Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Description

  • Our client is seeking experienced and resourceful lawyers to join any of its Technology, Banking or Infrastructure/Energy Teams.
  • The ideal candidate will have had atleast 4-5 years continous and demonstrable experience in any one of the aforementioned practice areas. In-house experience is an advantage but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities
Practice Co-Leadership:

  • Co-lead, develop, and grow the relevant practice area
  • Establish the Firm as a trusted advisor to clients navigating the complexities in the relevant practice area.

Client Engagement & Business Development:

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key clients in the relevant practice area
  • Anticipate and advise on emerging trends in the relevant practice area
  • Drive business development initiatives, including publishing thought leadership, speaking at high-profile industry events, and developing new client relationships.

Transactional Excellence:

  • Provide expert legal counsel on commercial transactions in the relevant practice area
  • Lead negotiations on high-stakes agreements and advise on complex, cross-border transactions.

Team Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and inspire a team of high-performing associates and counsel.
  • Foster a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive team culture, enabling team members to excel in their roles.

Firm Strategy & Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other practice areas to deliver seamless, multidisciplinary advice.
  • Contribute to the firm’s strategic objectives, including growth, market positioning, and profitability.

Technical Qualifications
Legal Expertise:

  • LL.B / B.L.from a recognized institution; admitted to practice law in one or more jurisdictions. An LL.M is preferable but not mandatory, where candidate can demonstrate significant practice experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, with significant exposure to transactions in the relevant practice area.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and close a variety of commercialtransactions, in the relevant practice area and to work independently.

Business Acumen:

  • Proven ability to develop and execute business development strategies in the relevant practice area.
  • A strong network of industry contacts and a track record of building a sustainable client portfolio.

Leadership Skills:

  • Experience managing and mentoring teams to achieve high performance.
  • A forward-thinking leader with a focus on diversity, inclusion, and collaboration.
  • An innovative problem solver:
  • Ability to deliver commercially driven, innovative, and practical legal solutions tailored to client needs.

What We Offer

  • Salary: N350,000 - N450,000 / month. (Depending on demonstrated competence)
