Job Description
- The Kitchen Assistant supports the Chef and kitchen staff by performing essential tasks to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
- Responsibilities include food preparation, cleaning, and maintaining kitchen equipment, assisting in meal preparation, and adhering to food safety standards.
- The ideal candidate is hardworking, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering excellent service.
Primary Responsibilities
Food preparation Support:
- Assist in basic food preparation, such as washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
- Prepare mise en place (ingredients and tools) for cooking stations.
Kitchen Maintenance:
- Keep work surfaces, utensils, and kitchen equipment clean and sanitized.
- Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, workstations, and utensils regularly.
Stock Management:
- Monitor kitchen supplies and report low stock levels to the Chef.
- Help in unloading and organizing deliveries.
Adherence to health and safety:
- Follow all health and safety guidelines to maintain a hygienic kitchen environment.
- Dispose of waste and garbage properly to ensure cleanliness.
Support to the Chef:
- Handle minor cooking tasks under supervision, such as assembling salads or plating dishes.
- Assist the Chef and cooks during meal preparation and service.
Requirements
- Courses / Qualification: OND / SSCE
- Relevant Experience: 1 - 2 years experience in a similar role
- Required Age: 19-25 years.
Special Skills & Key Behavioural Competencies:
- Previous experience as a kitchen assistant or in food service is a plus.
- Basic understanding of kitchen and food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Good physical stamina and a team-oriented attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Must be resident in City of interest.
