Job Title: Internal Auditor / Accountant

Location: Asaba, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

The Role

  • The internal auditor is to ensure efficiency and compliance with process and operations of the hospital.
  • The internal auditor is to identify risks, audit finances, claims, supplies and operations, and report findings with recommendations for improvement.

Responsibilities
The duties of the Internal Auditor will include:

  • On a sample basis, carry out a regularly reviews of financial, procurement/logistic transactions of the hospital, ensuring documentation supporting the transactions are in compliance with St. Luke’s Hospital’s policies and procedures.
  • Plan, conduct and lead audits and follow up on all internal and external audit action plans and provide periodic updates on actions taken.
  • Perform risk-based audits, on all financial activities, LPO, Vendors and supplies ensuring a focus on key areas such as revenue leakages, inventory management, procurement, and regulatory compliance
  • Stay updated with industry trends, audit best practices, and regulatory changes within the health sector.
  • Partners with the senior accountant to oobtain,analyseand evaluate accounting documentation, previous reports, data etc.
  • Vet and recommend for payments claims made by vendors and service partner of the hospital
  • Act as an objective source of independent advice to ensure validity, legality and goal achievement for various departments.

Requirements

  • A graduate of finance, accounting or a related field, professional qualification (ACCA, ICAN) is an added advantage
  • Accreditation with the Institute of Internal Auditors is a plus
  • Candidate should possess 2 - 5 years' experience working in the same role.
  • Strong understanding of hospital procedures, including regulatory frameworks and key business processes.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, and relationship building.
  • Experience in financial reporting, risk management, and compliance audits
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software.
