• The Pediatrics and Adolescent Officer will provide comprehensive oversight for the Pediatric and Adolescent programs at the state level, ensuring the effective implementation and monitoring of program strategies across Pediatrics/Adolescents, PMTCT, and OVC.
• The Officer will work closely with state teams to strengthen the delivery of care and treatment services for children and adolescents aged 0-14 years, focusing on technical assistance, capacity building, and direct service provision where needed.
• This position will also be responsible for improving the identification, linkage, and enrollment of children into OVC care, while overseeing the integration of HIV prevention, maternal and child health, sexual and reproductive health, and mental health services.
• Additionally, the Officer will provide leadership in the implementation of community AP3 interventions and ensure the delivery of state-of-the-art HIV prevention strategies.
• The role requires close collaboration with other units (HTS/Prevention, PMTCT, OVC) to strengthen case finding, treatment continuity, and viral suppression among pediatric and adolescent populations.
• The Officer will also supervise PMTCT activities for pregnant and breastfeeding adolescents aged 15-24 and their infants, while providing technical and administrative support, ensuring resource efficiency, and contributing to data analysis and program oversight.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the implementation and monitoring of core program strategies for pediatric and adolescent care, ensuring integrated services between sexual and reproductive health, maternal and child health, mental health, and HIV/AIDS for children and adolescents in the state.
• Scale up and ensure the effective implementation of combination HIV prevention strategies for children and adolescents aged 0-14 years.
• Enhance HIV testing, care, and treatment services for pediatric and adolescent populations, using data to guide activities and providing feedback to health facilities.
• Perform weekly data checks to ensure alignment between NDRlite dashboard, NDR/EMR reports, and AP3 submissions.
• Support PMTCT linkages, including early infant diagnosis, exposed infant care, and appropriate prophylaxis based on risk assessments. Facilitate the linkage of HIV-exposed infants to pediatric care and OVC enrollment.
• Lead the development and implementation of age-appropriate differentiated service delivery (DSD) models for children and adolescents living with HIV (CALHIV), aged 0-24 years.
• Contribute to the strategic implementation of AHD screening and management for children, adolescents, and young people.
• Oversee the OTZ program’s implementation in all states, including for adolescents and young people within the key population (KP) program.
• Track and provide technical guidance to improve viral load sample collection, documentation, and viral suppression for children aged 0-14, with a focus on the 0-9 age group.
• Supervise the implementation of PMTCT prongs 3 and 4 activities for pregnant and breastfeeding adolescents (15-24 years) and their infants in CIHP-supported communities and LGAs.
• Provide administrative support, data analysis, and track the implementation of key activities for the pediatric and adolescent program, ensuring efficient resource use.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on program needs and available funding.

Key Performance Indicators

• Achievement of 95% ART treatment coverage for children and adolescents aged 0-19.
• Maintaining an intra-facility transmission (IIT) rate of less than 2% across all age groups (0-19).
• Viral load coverage and suppression rates for the 0-19 age group.
• Successful case finding activities conducted in congregational settings for children and adolescents with HIV (0-14 years).
• Optimized AP3 reporting and data consistency on NDRlite for CALHIV (0-19).
• Percentage of children (0-14 years) receiving nutritional assessments and OVC nutritional support across supported CBOs.
• OVC and OVC lite enrollment coverage for priority groups, including CALHIV, HEI, and children living with PLHIV.
• Percentage of young mothers (15-24 years) linked to comprehensive OVC support and adolescent and young person (AYP) programs.

Requirements

• A degree in Medicine, Public Health, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years post-NYSC experience in healthcare programs, with a focus on pediatric and adolescent care, PMTCT, or OVC in developing countries.
• Strong understanding of clinical issues related to Pediatrics, PMTCT, and OVC, with experience in HIV/AIDS care and prevention.
• Proven ability to work independently, with excellent problem-solving skills, foresight, and initiative in program management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and virtual conferencing tools.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and make informed, timely decisions.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, with excellent presentation and communication skills.
