The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi was established in 1980 as the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Bauchi, located in the North Eastern part of Nigeria with Dr. Jerome Udoji and Professor A. O. Adekola as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor respectively, while Alh. Adamu Aliyu was the first Registrar of the University.

Job Title: Principal Chief Medical Laboratory Technologist

Location: Bauchi

Job Summary

  • The successful candidate will provide technical support, conduct laboratory tests and analyses, maintain equipment, and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, organizing, and coordinating laboratory services
  • Conduct and supervise laboratory tests and analyses
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and supplies
  • Participate in quality control and quality assurance programs
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • At least a second-class lower honors degree in a relevant field (Medical Laboratory Science, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or equivalent.
  • Evidence of current registration with the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN)
  • At least 15 years post-qualification experience in a University or Teaching Hospital, with 3 years as Senior Chief Medical Laboratory Technologist.
  • Strong technical, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in ICT.
  • Master's in a relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Applicants should not be over sixty (60) years old.

Conditions of Service

  • The successful candidate will be appointed for a single term of four (4) years and entitled to the benefits and allowances approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Governing Council as the case may be.
