The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi was established in 1980 as the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Bauchi, located in the North Eastern part of Nigeria with Dr. Jerome Udoji and Professor A. O. Adekola as the pioneer Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor respectively, while Alh. Adamu Aliyu was the first Registrar of the University.

Job Title: Director, Information and Communications Technology (ICT)

Location: Bauchi

Job Summary

  • The Director of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) will be responsible for the overall supervision of the university's ICT infrastructure.

Responsibilities
In addition, the Director will be in charge of the following;

  • General administration of the Department.
  • Computer and data processing development and implementation.
  • Serve as liaison with the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
  • Liaising with the ICT companies/establishments/universities/polytechnics and
  • national/international ICT agencies.
  • Providing advice on the general communication network of the institution.
  • Performing other duties as may be assigned.

Requirements

  • B. Sc / B. Tech Degree in Computer Studies (Computer Science, Data Processing, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer, and Communications Engineering) with a minimum of second class lower from a recognized higher institution.
  • Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in a university, with a minimum of 3 years satisfactory service as Deputy Director of ICT in a university or equivalent.
  • Evidence of current registration with the relevant professional bodies (e.g. CRCN).
  • Strong leadership, management, and communication skills
  • Possession of a Master's and Ph. D will be an added advantage.

Conditions of Service

  • The successful candidate will be appointed for a single term of four (4) years and entitled to the benefits and allowances approved by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Governing Council as the case may be.
