Job Title: Logistics and Equipment Maintenance Officer

Job Purpose
- To oversee the logistics services of Karsto Global Resources Limited to various destinations within and outside Rivers State in a timely and safe manner, and also ensure the proper and timely maintenance of the company’s vehicles and equipment.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Coordinate the transportation of materials to and from clients.
- Plan and schedule shipments to ensure timely delivery to customers.
- Optimize transportation routes to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Evaluate the performance of logistics partners and vendors.
- Implement process improvements to enhance logistics operations.
- Manage customs clearance and import/export documentation.
- Provide support for inventory management and warehousing activities.
- Ensure all trucks used for transportation meet specified standards.
- Raise requisite documentation, e.g., work orders.
- Coordinate the loading and receipt of products/goods.
- Check any unauthorized product supply invoices to customers.
- Ensure all trucks used for transportation meet and comply with the company’s standards.
- Report violations of poor housekeeping of trucks – ensure all trucks are always tidy and in good condition upon receipt of consignments.
- Plan routes and load schedules for multi-drop deliveries.
- Optimize deliveries by planning efficient and cost-effective routes.
- Ensure the proper number of trucks that meet the needs of the business.
- Create backup plans for operations in the event of a breakdown or mechanical failure.
- Prepare reports based on trends to enable the team to have accurate forecasts.
- Enforce the company’s safety and security measures during transportation/delivery of products.
- Provide daily required reports on operational activities of the logistics team.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the company's various products and services.
- Report any accidents, vehicle damage, and possible offenses under the Road Traffic Acts as well as all matters affecting the efficiency and day-to-day running of the transport service.
- Responsible for the level of repair and maintenance work on diesel-powered equipment, motor vehicles, trucks, heavy-duty construction/maintenance equipment, and hand power tools.
- Responsible for ensuring the operational availability of mobile equipment and for the continuing inspection of equipment.
- Devise and formulate regular, preventive, and corrective maintenance strategies, spare parts supply, and procurement/replacement schedules.
- Carry out routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance work and respond to equipment faults.
- Diagnose breakdown problems in order to reduce or eliminate such breakdowns.
- Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems, repairs, and provide preventive measures.
- Ensure that correct spares and tools are available.
- Prepare weekly/Monthly maintenance schedules and allocate work.
- Monitor inventory of materials and equipment for maintenance purposes.
- Control downtime by informing operations workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques and monitoring compliance.
- Prepare and submit maintenance reports.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in a similar job role in the Oil & Gas Sector.
- Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and international trade practices.
- Strong logistical planning and organizational skills.
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of preventive, corrective, and scheduled maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of road safety rules and regulations.
Abilities:
- Ability to handle long-distance trips and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to lift heavy packages and luggage.
