Job Title: Instrument Technician

Key tasks and Responsibilities
  • Perform condition monitoring and troubleshooting of instruments, Information Technology, communication and Control systems as per Computerised Maintenance Management System
  • Perform instrument and Control System maintenance
  • Perform maintenance of Information Technology, communication and navigation systems
  • Perform maintenance of metering systems
  • Control calibration appliances and test instruments
  • Maintain Ex rating of instrument equipment as per design
  • Assist in pre-commissioning and commissioning
  • Perform instrument spare parts and consumables stock control
  • Assist in fault finding and troubleshooting of shutdowns
  • Liaise with other departments for coordination of maintenance activities
  • Use the Permit to Work system. Prepare Permits. Follow the Permit to Work procedures
  • Use the Computerised Maintenance Management System. Produce reports, update records, generate work orders
  • Prepare required reports
  • Ensure that vendors and contractors are managed safely and effectively
  • Undertake training relevant to the position requirements
  • On-the-job-training of colleagues and trainees
  • Member of Emergency Response Team
Qualification Requirements
Education:
  • Higher diploma / Degree in relevant Engineering discipline; relevant Technical / Vocational certificate an advantage.
Experience:
  • Employer requires 5 years experience as an Instrument Technician within a Process plant environment
  • Experience with Control Systems
  • Experience on offshore facilities or marine vessels would be an added advantage
Skills:
  • Good inter-personal and communications skills
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
