Job Title: Inventory Officer

Location: Lekki, Lagos

Job Description

  • As the Inventory Officer for S.EA Mart, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing stock levels, ensuring proper inventory control, and maintaining accurate records for all products in the retail store. This role ensures that stock is efficiently received, stored, and distributed while minimizing losses and optimizing inventory turnover. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and capable of working in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Reports to: Supermarket Manager

Responsibilities
Inventory Management:

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure all stock movements are properly documented.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate timely restocking to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Conduct routine stock audits, cycle counts, and reconciliations to verify inventory accuracy.
  • Track product expiration dates and ensure proper rotation of perishable goods if applicable.

Stock Handling & Organization:

  • Receive, inspect, and verify the quantity and quality of incoming stock deliveries.
  • Organize and store inventory in a systematic manner to maximize space utilization.
  • Ensure all products are correctly labeled with pricing details.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to replenish shelves and maintain optimal stock display.

Loss Prevention & Reporting:

  • Identify discrepancies in stock levels and investigate variances.
  • Implement measures to prevent theft, spoilage, and damage to inventory.
  • Generate reports on stock movements, slow-moving items, and product demand trends.
  • Work with management to improve inventory policies and procedures.

Supplier & Logistics Coordination:

  • Liaise with procurement officer to manage stock deliveries and returns.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and safety standards for inventory handling.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an Inventory Officer, Storekeeper, or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management principles and best practices.
  • Proficiency in inventory software, POS systems, or spreadsheets for tracking stock.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Basic knowledge of supply chain and procurement processes is a plus.
