Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is a non-profit organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting global health and economic initiatives in Nigeria. It was established as an affiliate of the Family Health international (FHI360) to sustain FHI's achievements in strengthening indigenous organizational capacity in Nigeria. AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

The Reading and Numeracy Activity (RANA) is a 3 year UNICEF-funded early primary grades reading pilot project implemented in partnership with FHI 360 in collaboration with the governments of Katsina and Zamfara states, RANA aims to improve literacy and numeracy for girls and boys in primary grades 1-3 in the supported states. It will assist approximately 100 formal Schools and Integrated Quranic Schools (IQS) in each of the states.

We are seeking qualified candidate for the position below:

Job Description
  • The Community Mobilization & Gender Specialist will be responsible for advocating for greater attention to gender perspectives, providing the necessary rationales and advice on approaches to support gender mainstreaming on the RANA Project.
  • S/he will be responsible for integrating gender sensitive approaches to technical assistance, with sensitivity to promoting high level of collaboration, communication and cooperation with government facilities and mainstream gender into appropriate interventions.
Minimum Recruitment Standards
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent in Education, Gender Studies, Sociology, Anthropology or related discipline with 5 years working experience in community mobilization and gender integration at the national or international level.
  • Expertise in community mobilization and gender analysis, strategic planning, and integrating gender balance into project design and management is desirable.
  • Experience in dealing with issues of gender mainstreaming in material development and within public institutions and/or international organizations required.
  • Hands-on experience in design, monitoring and evaluation of development projects is essential.
