Responsibilities

• Stocking and Restocking: Bar backs make sure the bar is well-stocked with necessary supplies like liquor, beer, mixers, garnishes, glassware, straws, napkins, and ice. They also replenish these items as they run low throughout the shift.
• Cleaning and Organizing: They maintain cleanliness in the bar area, washing glassware, cleaning counters, and ensuring the bar is organized and clutter-free. They may also clean floors and restock condiments and supplies.
• Supporting the Bartender: Bar backs assist bartenders by preparing garnishes, making simple drinks, handling customer orders when appropriate, and running drinks to tables. They help with high-volume orders during busy periods.
• Handling Supplies and Equipment: They ensure all equipment (e.g., blenders, juicers, taps) is functional and that inventory is tracked and replenished.
• Customer Interaction: While not the primary point of contact with customers, they may interact with guests to bring drinks, take orders, or help with requests, especially during peak hours.
• Waste Management: They are responsible for handling and disposing of empty bottles, broken glassware, and other waste from the bar area.
