The Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA), founded in 2004, was created to improve health outcomes for women, infants, and children while working towards the systemic and structural changes in the areas of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Gender Equality, and Opportunity (GEO). At the WBFA, we combine our programs with advocacy work in Nigeria and worldwide, allowing every health worker, mother, and child access to life-altering advice, opportunities, and health solutions.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Manager of Policy & Advocacy - The Wellbeing Foundation Africa Research and Development Unit

Location: Abuja
Job type: Full-time

Responsibilities
Policy Development and Advocacy:

  • Assist in implementing WBFA’s policy advocacy strategy.
  • Support engagement with government agencies and other stakeholders to influence policy decisions.
  • Draft policy briefs, position papers, and advocacy materials.

Advocacy:

  • Support advocacy campaigns, ensuring alignment with WBFA’s goals.
  • Assist in developing advocacy materials and engaging with relevant stakeholders.
  • Help coordinate events and activities related to WBFA’s advocacy efforts.

Research and Analysis:

  • Conduct background research to inform WBFA’s policy positions.
  • Analyze data and trends related to maternal, newborn, and child health policy.

Programme Coordination:

  • Support integration of policy and advocacy efforts within WBFA programmes.
  • Monitor programme effectiveness and contribute to reporting on advocacy impact.

Representation and Communication:

  • Represent WBFA in relevant policy discussions and forums.
  • Support internal and external communications related to policy initiatives.

Example Deliverables:

  • Assist in implementing advocacy initiatives.
  • Produce policy briefs and analysis reports.
  • Organize stakeholder engagement events.
  • Support development of advocacy toolkits.
  • Monitor and report on policy advocacy progress.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in policy research, advocacy, or programme coordination.
  • Strong analytical and writing skills.
  • Experience engaging with policymakers and advocacy networks.
