African Foundries Limited (AFL) was established to support the accelerating growth in Nigeria by making the country self-reliant for steel rebars and eliminating its dependence on imported rebars. AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: CNC Operator

Location: Ogijo, Ogun

Reports To: Shift In-charge / Supervisor

Job Description

• As a CNC Operator, you will be an integral part of the Rolling Mill Operations team, reporting to the Shift In-charge orSupervisor of the Roll Shop.
• Your role will involve operating CNC machines to perform various tasks related to roll pass cutting, machining, andmaintenance in alignment with technical specifications and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Roll Pass Cutting for Mill Rolls and other Machining as per drawing
• Understanding of Technical Parameters of the Machining Job and Machine Capacity
• CNC Programming and Data Entering of different types of Pass Profiles
• To prepare RIB Cutting and Branding in the Finishing Mill Rolls.
• To Operate general purpose machines in Roll Shop
• To carry out Periodical checking of Machineries and Equipment’s of Roll Shop.
• To carry out routine maintenance jobs of the Roll Shop Machineries.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Academic qualification:

• NCE / OND / HND / B.Sc in Mechanical

Experience:

• Minimum of 6 years experience in Hot Rolling Mill
• 10 years of experience

Core Functional Experience:

• Good Knowledge of Rolling in Bar Mill(Reinforcement Bar, Merchant Products)
• Good Knowledge of Operations of ReheatingFurnaces.
• Knowledge of Roll Pass Design
• Knowledge of Standards for Rolled Products
• To provide technical support to the superiors in investigation and resolution of problem areas.
• To prepare and submit the daily reports to the concerned shift in charges
• To ensure compliance with HSE, PPE Standards and Procedures and aim at Zero Accidents.
• To implement work procedures and records confirming to ISO for Rolling Mills.
• To perform additional tasks as desired by Superiors from time to time.

Functional Competencies:

• CNC Machining Expertise -Proficiency in operating CNC machines & performing roll pass cutting,machining, & maintenance tasks in a hot rolling mill environment.
• Technical Knowledge -Sound understanding of rolling processes in bar mills, includingreinforcement bar as well as operations of reheating furnaces.
• CNC Programming- Competence in CNC programming & data entry, facilitating accurate andefficient machining operations in the roll shop.
• Maintenance Skills:Ability to conduct periodic checks and routine maintenance of roll shopmachinery and equipment, ensuring optimal functionality and longevity of assets.
• Quality Assurance:Knowledge of standards for rolled products and adherence to ISO proceduresfor rolling mills, maintaining quality standards and consistency in product output.
• Documentation and Reporting:Proficiency in preparing & submitting daily reports to shift in-charges, documenting work procedures, & maintaining records in compliance with ISO requirements.
