We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Assistant Shift In Charge - CCM

Location: Ogijo, Ogun State
Employment Type: Full-time
Department: Steel Melting Shop (SMS)
Reports To: Shift I/C – CCM Operations

Job Description

  • As the Asst. Shift In-charge - CCM, you will be responsible for managing shift operations in the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) department.
  • Your primary duties include ensuring seamless operation, maintaining quality standards, and upholding safety protocols.
  • You will lead a team of operators, coordinate shift activities, and ensure efficient production processes.

Key Responsibilities
CCM Operation and Maintenance:

  • Manage the operation and maintenance of the CCM during assigned shifts to ensure continuous production.
  • Monitor equipment performance and conduct necessary repairs to minimize downtime.

Ladle Lining Inspection:

  • Inspect the condition of ladle lining after each heat to ensure it meets required standards.
  • Record and analyze data on ladle lining life and refractory usage.

Free Opening of Ladle:

  • Ensure 100% free opening of ladles at the CCM without the need for lancing.
  • Implement best practices to achieve and maintain ladle lining life as per standards.

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Oversee the cleaning of fixed nozzles, slide gates, collector nozzles, and slag removal from ladles after each cast.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and partial repair of equipment.

Slide Gate and Ladle Nozzle Management:

  • Manage the fixing and maintenance of slide gates and ladle nozzles to ensure efficient heat carrying from furnaces.
  • Maintain daily records of ladle refractory usage and performance.

Shift Supervision:

  • Supervise manpower and their activities during the shift to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain operational and maintenance logbooks and checklists regularly.

Process Parameters and Quality Control:

  • Ensure proper process parameters are followed as per SOP to maintain billet quality.
  • Document all operations and maintenance activities as per SOP.

Inter-Department Communication:

  • Facilitate effective communication and planning within and between departments to ensure smooth operations.
  • Coordinate with other departments to address any operational issues promptly.

Safety Management:

  • Ensure the safety of both manpower and machinery during the shift.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks.

Overall Shift Responsibility:

  • Take overall responsibility for CCM operations during the shift, ensuring efficiency and quality.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management from time to time.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Academic Qualification:

  • HND/B.Eng. in Mechanical / Metallurgy Engineering.
  • Science graduates with relevant experience may also apply

Experience:

  • Min 10 years. Experience in Caster Operation
  • Min 10 years. Experience in Caster Operation
  • Min. 5 years. Experience as Mould Operator

Core Functional Experience:

  • Ladle Lining Process: Expertise in the ladle lining process to ensure durability and performance.
  • Machine Cleaning: Proficient in cleaning and maintaining CCM machinery, including nozzles and slide gates.
  • Team Leadership: Experience in leading and managing a team effectively.
  • Shift Coordination: Skilled in coordinating shift activities to ensure continuous operation.
  • Safety Standards Compliance: Strong commitment to maintaining and enforcing safety standards.
