AFL is set up to reach a 0.5 million-ton per year capacity for high strength rebars and allied products.

Job Title: Mould Operator

Location: Ogijo, Ogun
Employment Type: Full-time

Summary

  • Mould Operator in the steel industry is responsible foroperating and maintaining the molds used in the steel casting process, ensuring the smooth production of high-quality steel components by accurately assembling, aligning, and filling the molds with molten steel, while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Mold Preparation:

  • Thoroughly inspect and clean molds before each casting cycle, identifying and reporting any defects or damage.
  • Assemble mold components accurately, ensuring proper alignment and sealing.
  • Apply necessary mold coatings or lubricants to facilitate smooth release of the cast product.

Casting Operation:

  • Load molten steel into the mold cavity using appropriate pouring techniques.
  • Monitor the filling process, adjusting pouring rate as needed to maintain consistent quality.
  • Manage cooling cycles and adjust parameters based on product specifications.

Quality Control:

  • Perform visual inspections of cast components for defects such as cracks, porosity, or misalignment.
  • Utilize measuring tools to verify dimensions and tolerances of finished products.
  • Report any quality issues to the supervisor and take corrective action when necessary.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct routine maintenance on molds, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues related to mold performance, such as leaks, sticking, or improper cooling.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel for complex repairs.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety procedures related to molten metal handling, including proper PPE usage.
  • Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Job Qualifications

  • Interested candidates should possess a BSc / HND / OND / NCE qualification with 4-8 years work experience.
