Job Title: Dental Therapist

Locations: Owerri - Imo and Port Harcourt - Rivers

Job Description

  • We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Therapist to join our team.
  • As a Dental Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing preventive and therapeutic dental care to patients.
  • You will work closely with dentists to deliver treatments such as fillings, cleanings, and other preventive services while promoting overall oral health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Clinical Procedures: Perform a variety of dental procedures, including restorative treatments such as fillings, sealants, and basic extractions.
  • Oral Health Assessments: Conduct initial patient assessments, examining teeth, gums, and overall oral health to diagnose and treat common dental issues.
  • Preventive Care: Provide preventive treatments such as cleanings, fluoride applications, and sealant applications to protect teeth and gums.
  • Treatment Planning: Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and collaborate with the dental team to provide comprehensive care.
  • Patient Education: Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, proper brushing and flossing techniques, and the importance of regular dental visits to maintain oral health.
  • Assist Dentists: Work closely with dentists to assist with more complex procedures, including performing delegated duties within your scope of practice.
  • Maintain Patient Records: Keep accurate, up-to-date patient records, including treatment notes, medical histories, and X-rays, following all privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
  • Manage Patient Care: Provide high-quality care to a diverse patient base, addressing concerns and maintaining a comfortable and supportive environment for patients.
  • Stay Informed: Stay current on the latest dental therapies, technologies, and trends to improve patient care and treatment outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Education: Degree or Diploma in Dental Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensing: Current state licensure as a Dental Therapist, in accordance with local regulations.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Dental Therapist or Dental Hygienist is preferred, but not required. Recent graduates with strong clinical training are encouraged to apply.

Skills:

  • Proficient in dental therapy procedures and treatments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and the dental team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage patient care efficiently.
  • Knowledge of dental hygiene and preventive care techniques.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfort with dental software for maintaining patient records and scheduling.
