Job Title: Junior Lawyer II

Job Summary

  • We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Junior Lawyer II with 5-6 years post-call experience to join our legal team.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in corporate law, litigation, and regulatory compliance, with the ability to handle complex legal matters independently.
  • This role offers a great opportunity to take on increased responsibility, manage client cases, and contribute to the firm’s growth while working closely with senior legal professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide legal counsel to clients on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate agreements, ensuring compliance with legal and business requirements.
  • Represent clients in court, arbitration, and mediation proceedings. Prepare case strategies, pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Advise clients on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and regulatory compliance.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies and ensure clients comply with all necessary legal frameworks.
  • Conduct thorough legal research and prepare well-reasoned legal opinions, briefs, and reports.
  • Conduct due diligence for corporate transactions, identifying potential risks and mitigating legal exposure.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, ensuring quality service and professional legal guidance.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior legal associates and interns.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • LL.B degree from a recognized university and BL from the Nigerian Law School (or relevant jurisdiction).
  • 5-6 years post-call experience in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate, commercial, dispute resolution, and regulatory law.
  • Proven track record of handling litigation matters, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in court.
  • Hands-on experience in contract negotiation, commercial transactions, and legal documentation.
  • Ability to assess complex legal issues and provide strategic solutions.
  • High level of accuracy in drafting legal documents and reviewing contracts.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey legal concepts clearly.
