Job Title: Intermediate Lawyer

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

  • We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Intermediate Lawyer with 7-9 years post-call experience to join our dynamic legal team.
  • The ideal candidate will have extensive experience handling complex legal matters, managing client relationships, and providing strategic legal advisory services.
  • This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of corporate and commercial law, litigation, and regulatory compliance.
  • The candidate should be able to work independently while mentoring junior associates and supporting the firm’s growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal advice on corporate, commercial, regulatory, and dispute resolution matters.
  • Oversee litigation strategies, represent clients in court, and manage arbitration, mediation, and settlement negotiations.
  • Lead negotiations, draft, and review agreements, contracts, and legal documents for high-value transactions.
  • Ensure clients adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, engaging with regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, managing expectations and delivering high-quality legal solutions.
  • Conduct risk analysis, due diligence for corporate transactions, and provide legal risk mitigation strategies.
  • Supervise and mentor junior lawyers, providing guidance on legal matters and professional development.
  • Stay updated on legal trends, case laws, and regulatory changes, advising the firm and clients accordingly.
  • Lead contract negotiations for corporate deals, ensuring favourable terms for clients.
  • Contribute to business development, client acquisition, and overall growth strategies of the firm.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • LL. B degree from a recognized university and BL from the Nigerian Law School (or relevant jurisdiction).
  • 7-9 years post-call experience in a reputable law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, commercial transactions, dispute resolution, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proven experience in high-stakes litigation and alternative dispute resolution.
  • Ability to draft and negotiate complex legal agreements.
  • Strong track record of advising clients, including corporate organizations and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Experience leading teams and mentoring junior lawyers.
  • Ability to assess legal risks and provide strategic solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communication abilities, including public speaking and client presentations.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with multinational corporations, financial institutions, or regulatory bodies.
  • Background in mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, intellectual property, or tax law.
  • Strong business development acumen with a proven ability to attract and retain clients.

  • Salary Range N500,000 - N650,000 per month.
