Job Title: Programme Officer, Gender and Peace Building

Location: Lafia, Nasarawa
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The primary purpose of this role is to support the Programme Manager, Gender and Peacebuilding in developing gender and peace building initiatives across GPD states.
  • The Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing gender equality within peacebuilding initiatives. He/she will collaborate with stakeholders to develop strategies, and implement programs that promote inclusivity, equity, and sustainable peace within the state.

Description of Work

  • Work closely with Program Manager, Gender and Peacebuilding to support project design and proposal development
  • Support development of project specific work plans and results framework
  • Conduct desk review of gender and security issues in the state including development of context briefing notes
  • Search and flag-up call for proposals on gender, security and Peacebuilding
  • Support M&E staff on development of project indicators and data collection tools
  • Provide technical support on mainstreaming gender and social inclusion into program activities

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Education: BSc / HND in Peace and Conflict Studies, Sociology, Human Rights, Gender/Women Studies, International Development, or related social science field is required
  • Proven experience (3 years) in implementing gender-focused projects within peace-building, preferably in a national or international organization.
  • Strong understanding of gender dynamics, intersectionality, and human rights frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and networking skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in project management, monitoring, and evaluation methodologies.
  • Commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusion, and social justice.
  • Experience in donor reporting and capacity building is an asset
  • Experience in the area of gender mainstreaming and peace building is an asset
