We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW)

Location: Ughelli, Delta
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • The Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW) will provide essential primary healthcare services, focusing on disease prevention, health promotion, and basic medical care to individuals and families within the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide basic medical care, including wound dressing, first aid, and administering injections.
  • Assist in the diagnosis and treatment of minor ailments.
  • Support maternal and child health services, including antenatal and postnatal care.
  • Educate individuals and families on hygiene, nutrition, immunization, and disease prevention.
  • Promote family planning services and educate on reproductive health.
  • Conduct home visits and community health assessments.
  • Facilitate immunization campaigns and health screenings.
  • Identify and refer patients requiring specialized care to appropriate health facilities.
  • Maintain accurate patient and community health records.
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports on community health activities.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Advocate for community health needs and participate in community engagement programs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma in Community Health from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a certified CHEW with a valid license from the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a primary healthcare or community setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Knowledge of public health practices and protocols.
  • Compassionate and culturally sensitive.
  • Proficiency in basic medical procedures and use of healthcare tools.
