We are recruiting to fill the below position:

Job Title: HSE Supervisor

Location: Onne, Rivers State

Purpose:
  • Under general guidance of the HSE Manager, this position is responsible for the routine delivery of all policies, practices, and operations for the HSE functions within the Terminal.
  • Advises line management on HSE strategies where appropriate
  • Assists in the delivery and development of the company’s HSE functions, implementing policies, procedures and systems to provide for a safe business operation
  • Maintains up-to-date information and knowledge on new developments in the area of HSE and Loss Prevention
  • Inspects organisation facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Prepares reports on HSE incidents for use by company personnel and outside agencies
  • Assists in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organisation in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations. 
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies. 
  • Maintains safety files and records
Principal Accountabilities
  • Observe the provisions of the relevant terminal’s policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that the terminal HSE policy and procedures are observed as well as all relevant safety legislation and the provisions of the relevant Government of Nigeria HSE Acts
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement process and to the meeting of business objectives. This includes providing suggestions and input to changes and improvements in all policies and procedures (mentioned in this section or otherwise)
  • Inform superior as soon as possible if any general or specific task cannot be performed adequately or timely due to influences beyond your control
  • Monitor and assisting in the delivery of toolbox HSE talks/briefs and audits
  • Monitoring staff and sub contractor compliance with the terminal's HSE guidelines
  • Providing HSE advice to HODs as appropriate
  • Receive and execute instructions and decisions from the HSE Manager
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Comply with all disaster contingency plans
  • Perform other related functions required from time to time such as assistance in dealing with serious incidents
  • Responsible for inputting data into the global safety tools website
  • Supervise HSE Officers and sub contract staff ensuring adherence to established procedures and conformance with HSE standards and codes and the relevant statutory regulations
  • Monitor and appraise the performance of staff supervised, to ensure company’s expectations are met and that the required follow-up actions are taken
  • Adherence to HSE procedures
  • Prepare HSE briefings in respect to changes in HSE procedures, plans or new development in HSE standards or regulations
  • Prepare daily report and forward to the HSE Manager for compiling not later than at the end of each shift
  • Prepare regular and necessary reports to the HSE Manager on HSE related issues
  • Participate together with the HSE Manager in the implementation of HSE campaigns to raise staff awareness;
  • Conduct regular checks for all HSE equipment
  • Ensure adherence to established HSE practices
  • Carry out audits and reviews of HSE within the terminal
  • Produce related audit reports and generate corrective action plans
  • Assist in maintenance of a HSE working environment
