We design, build and operate the lowest cost hybrid (solar and biomass) power plant and distribution network in India and Africa. To date, Husk has provided electricity to over 15,000 homes and business, reducing 95,000 tonnes of CO2. Our aim is to provide 30MW of power to 225,000 customers by 2025, and save 350,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.

Job Title: Smart Meter Technician

Location: Nasarawa, Nigeria with frequent travels across Husk Mingrid Sites

Role Summary

• We are seeking an experienced Smart Metering Electrician to join our growing team in Nigeria. 
• The candidate should be skilled in smart meter installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Your role will involve working closely with the Engineering and Warehouse teams to ensure seamless meter management and support. 
• You will be responsible for ensuring smart meters are properly configured, allocated, and maintained for operational efficiency. 
• A strong technical background, problem-solving skills, and teamwork are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
Liaison Between Engineering and Warehouse Team:

• Serve as the primary point of contact between the Engineering team and the Warehouse team.
• Receive and accurately record all new smart meters and accessories from the warehouse.
• Perform meter configurations on new smart meters as needed.

Meter Management and Support:

• Act as the primary point of contact for service engineers regarding meter-related issues.
• Allocate new meters to plants based on operational requirements.
• Oversee all meter replacement exercises, ensuring seamless execution.
• Support the service engineers/technicians on plant-level meter/server troubleshooting.
• Retrieve faulty meters for final testing and analysis.
• Conduct meter testing and document outcomes for reference and reporting.
• Perform other tasks as allocated.

Qualifications
Required Skills & Attributes:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in smart metering, electrical maintenance, or a similar role.
• Strong knowledge of smart meter configurations, installations, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with electrical systems, grid connections, and metering technologies.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
