Job Title: Oiler
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Position Overview
- As an Oiler, you will be responsible for assisting in maintaining and operating the mechanical and other related equipment onboard our vessels.
- You'll work closely with the ship's engineering team to ensure smooth mechanical operations, contributing to the vessel's safety, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in maintenance, repair, cleaning and troubleshooting of all mechanical and control systems.
- Ensuring Compliance with maritime safety standards and the ship's operational guidelines.
- Assist in Monitoring and maintaining the ship's power generation and distribution systems.
- Assisting in the implementation of preventative maintenance programs for mechanical equipment and systems.
- Maintaining detailed records and reports of repairs, inspections, and routine maintenance activities.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree/Diploma/in Marine Engineering or a related field.
- STCW Certification (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).
- Certificate of competence as an Oiler from a recognised maritime institution. Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role onboard a vessel or in the maritime industry.
- knowledge of marine mechanical systems, automation, and instrumentation. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multicultural team. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
