Job Title: Chief Mate

Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Position Overview

• We are seeking a dedicated professional with strong leadership abilities, navigational expertise, and an unwavering commitment to safety.
• The Chief Mate will be responsible for assisting the vessel captain with the safe and efficient operation of the vessel, ensuring compliance with maritime laws and regulations, and fostering a positive onboard environment among crew members.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in overseeing all navigational operations, ensuring safe passage and
• adherence to all maritime regulations.
• Manage the crew, including assignment of duties, performance monitoring, and training.
• Ensure the vessel is in proper operational condition, including regular maintenance checks and communication with the engineering team.
• Monitor weather conditions and make necessary route adjustments to ensure safety.
• Handle all port and cargo operations, including communication with port authorities.
• Prepare reports on the vessel's performance, logbooks, and compliance with
• maritime laws.
• Ensure that safety protocols are enforced and all crew members follow health and safety standards.
• Respond to emergencies promptly and effectively, safeguarding the crew and the vessel.

Skills & Qualifications

• Valid Chief Mate's License and relevant certifications (STCW, GMDSS, etc.).
• A minimum of 5 years experience as a Vessel Chief mate.
• Comprehensive knowledge of maritime regulations, navigation, and safety
• procedures.
• Strong decision-making skills, especially in high-pressure environments.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage a diverse crew.
• Experience in operating security vessels is preferred.
