Main Functions
- A Reliability Engineer identifies and manages asset reliability risk throughout the lifecycle of a product.
- This is a strategic role that is involved in the planning, designing and developing of maintenance programs.
- Loss elimination, risk management, and lifecycle asset management are the 3 main areas of focus for most Reliability Engineers.
- Reliability Engineers work extensively in plants and refineries, but can be found in other areas of the industry as well.
- Provide general reliability guidance and expertise.
Tasks and Responsibilities
In addition to all Level 1 and 2 tasks, Level 3:
- Serve as subject matter expert on the cause and effect methodology.
- Facilitate and implement a production availability threats work process, and manage the threats database.
- Collect, report, and analyze unit performance data.
- Benchmark equipment performance against similar sites.
- Identify opportunities to improve capacity utilization.
- Identify key opportunity areas to mitigate potentially large reliability issues or to identify improvement opportunities.
- Ensure documentation of the facility’s threat/optimization list.
- Ensure value is established.
- Recognized as a leader or expert;
- Interprets & incorporates industry info and advances;
- Sound knowledge of other skills & able to apply in several areas;
- Responsible for resolving entire complex problems;
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering within discipline and/or equivalent professional experience
- Able to provide assistance to more senior engineers.
- Able to provide assistance to more senior engineers.
- Able to work independently in all situations within range of technical expertise.
- Recognized as a technical expert in one or more categories.
- Also recognized for their business understanding and history of continuous high value contributions.
- Applies innovation broadly.
- Has applicable industry experience with more than one Client Company or with industry associations / professional societies.
- Takes technical initiative, and is able to learn quickly and apply knowledge to technical success.
- Strong data manipulation skills
- Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
