Job Title: Fashion Instructor
Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement comprehensive fashion design courses, including lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on exercises, covering topics like draping, pattern making, garment construction, textile selection, and design sketching.
- Teach students how to utilize sewing machines, follow patterns, create garments, and develop their design aesthetic.
- Oversee student design projects from concept development to final garment production, providing feedback and guidance throughout the process.
- Stay current with emerging fashion trends, technologies, and industry practices to incorporate relevant knowledge into the curriculum.
- Assist students in building a strong design portfolio showcasing their skills and creativity.
- Grade student work, provide constructive feedback, and assess their progress through regular evaluations and exams.
- Foster connections with industry professionals, arrange guest lectures, and explore internship opportunities for students.
- Assist in organizing and managing student fashion shows, including design selection, production, and presentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field, with additional teaching certifications will be an added advantage
- Relevant experience in the fashion industry, including design, pattern making, and production.
- Strong understanding of fashion design principles, including color theory, silhouette, proportion, and garment construction.
- Proficient in pattern making, sewing techniques, draping, and garment construction.
- Ability to identify emerging trends, develop innovative designs, and guide students in expressing their creative vision.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to explain complex concepts clearly, and provide effective feedback to students.
- Awareness of current fashion trends, market demands, and industry practices.
- Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Illustrator and CAD programs will be an added advantage.
