We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title:  Program Officer (Molecular Unit)

Location:
Zaria, Kaduna
Report to: Senior Program Officer, Laboratory
Scheduled Work Times: Monday - Friday

Job Descriptions
  • IHVN Clinical Laboratory Repository is looking for a Program Officer who will apply bio-chemistry skills to develop optimized and scaleable research purification strategies of multiple candidate therapeutics for functional and biological drug discovery studies.
  • The successful candidates must be highly flexible and team oriented.
  • It is expected that the candidate should possess strong communication skills, well-organized working style, as well as, timely and accurate technical reporting and documentation skills for use in laboratory logs and databases.
Essential Functions
The Program Officer (Molecular Diagnostics) shall be responsible for:
  • Specimen log into sample receipt log/excel template and EID LIMS.
  • Specimen processing and archival for routine lab, research and projects
  • Support for the development of specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), procedures and guidelines
  • Conducting molecular real time PCR assays
  • Supporting the development of Research 'repository lab' specific SOPs.
  • Repository specimen and data management
  • Support laboratory testing
  • Research support as may be required
  • Carry out systems (equipment) analysis and functional checks
Education/Experience
  • BMLS or relevant field.
  • Must have five year working experience in a directly related lab and/or research setting.
  • Experience with basic laboratory techniques, sample processing and archiving
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of laboratory workflows and timelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic molecular concepts and techniques will be an added advantage
  • Must be well organized, manage time effectively, meticulous attention to detail, able to keep track of multiple tasks running in parallel, and must have strong customer service ethics
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Must be able to logically and effectively structure tasks and set priorities
  • Ability to identify potential problems and trouble-shoot solutions
  • Ability to provide outstanding customer service
  • Must be a team player with ability to multitask and work under minimal supervision
