Job Summary

  • Oversee all aspects of a hospital kitchen operations, ensuring that production of high quality, safe and nutritious meal meets dietary needs of the patient
  • Adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards

Job Description

  • Plan and prepare menus, recipes, and food production schedules to ensure high-quality food and presentation.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the kitchen, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation.
  • Lead, motivate, and train the kitchen team to ensure high-quality food and service.
  • Ensure that all food safety and hygiene standards are met, and that the kitchen is maintained in a clean and safe condition .Conduct patient surveys, interviews and focus groups to gather feedback on all aspects of the patient experience.
  • Monitor food costs and identify areas of cost increase or reduction while maintaining quality standards
  • Monitor food quality and consistency, ensuring freshness and proper handling of ingredients
  • Develop policies and procedures and implement quality control measures to prevent food-borne illnesses and maintain compliance with regulatory standards
  • Manage food inventory, including receiving deliveries, inspecting quality and rotating stock to minimize waste
  • Collaborate with Nursing department to develop and implement patient menus based on dietary needs and medical requirements
  • Communicate effectively with Nursing staff, patient care teams and other departments regarding meal delivery schedules and dietary concerns
  • Build relationships with patients, actively listening to their feedback and provide support throughout their stay in the facility

Requirements

  • First Degree in Culinary Arts, hospitality or related field (post graduate degree is an added advantage
  • Experience in a healthcare food services setting preferred.
