We are recruiting to fill the position of:

Job Title: Program Officer, Laboratory

Location:
Benue State
Scheduled Work Times: Monday - Friday
Reports To: Program Manager Laboratory Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement

Summary/Overview
  • The Program Officer Laboratory, Benue state, will be responsible for overseeing all laboratory activities in all IHVN supported sites in the Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the State.
Essential Functions
The Program Officer Laboratory Benue State shall:
  • Work with Quality Improvement Teams (QIT) in Benue state to support all laboratory activities at sites supported by IHVN
  • Be involved with site and centralized trainings as applicable
  • Be responsible for Dry Tube Specimen (DTS) production, distribution and monitoring of HIV Quality Improvement Program in Benue state
  • Keep inventory of necessary laboratory reagents and supplies needed for DTS production and distribution
  • Work with Regional Laboratory Officers to implement quality assurance program across assays and programs
  • Conduct assessment of laboratories, develop work action plan and with time lines to achieve timely implementation of corrective actions.
  • Work with laboratories to Implement Strengthening Laboratory Management Towards Accreditation (SLMTA).
  • Ensure appropriate and timely implementation of improvement projects.
  • Work under the supervision of the State Manager on day to day program implementation
Education/Experience
  • A degree in Medical Laboratory Science that is acceptable to MLSCN (for registration).
  • At least 5 years working experience in Laboratory Quality Assurance.
  • A certified SLMTan.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Must possess good program management experience.
  • Must have at least 5 years working experience in diagnostic laboratory.
  • Must be creative in program design/planning and implementation towards achieving set goals
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
Desirable:
  • Experience in Quality Management System implementation
  • Experience working with databases
