Job Title: Irrigation Engineer

Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Full-time

Overall Responsibilities

• The Irrigation Engineer is responsible for the designs, implementation, and management of the systems that distribute water to our agricultural lands and locations. 
• His role entails that water is used efficiently, promoting sustainable practices and supporting the needs of various locations/sites. 
• He/She would would play a critical role in enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability through the adoption of solar-powered irrigation systems, promote environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments of irrigation needs and feasibility studies for the implementation of solar powered irrigation systems.
• Design customized solar-powered irrigation solutions based on site-specific requirements and environmental conditions.
• Provide technical specifications and recommendations for the procurement of solar panels, pumps, controllers, and other necessary equipment.
• Support the installation, commissioning, and testing of solar-powered irrigation systems, including training for operators and maintenance staff.
• Develop operation and maintenance manuals for solar irrigation systems to ensure proper functionality and longevity.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of installed systems, troubleshoot any issues, and recommend improvements as needed.
• Assist the organisation to achieve program targets and deliverables as described in the program work plans and the contract.
• Participate in all meeting and workshops that involve Harvest irrigation/drainage design activities
• Keepthemanagementinformed on significant issues involving A/E design services.

Educational Qualifications

• Educational requirement of a Bachelor of Science degree (preferred) in agricultural engineering, renewable energy, or a related field.
• A higher degree orspecialized course in agriculture may be an added advantage

Relevant years of Experience:

• 5 years experiencein thedesign, installation, and maintenance of solar-powered irrigation systems, preferably in agricultural settings

Desired Profile:

• Strong technical knowledge of solar energy technologies, including photovoltaic systems and solar water pumps
• Familiarity with irrigation techniques, water management principles, and agronomic practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural environments.
• Exceptional written and oral communications skill. Familiarity with safety regulations, environmental laws and agricultural policies.
