Abt Associates, a global leader in technical assistance, program implementation, and research, seeks qualified candidates for an upcoming USAIO-funded reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health (RMNCH) project in Nigeria. Working closely with state level governments in the Northeast, Northwest, and South, the project will focus on service delivery in family planning, malaria, immunization, nutrition, and maternal and newborn health. The project will work across the country and tailor itself to individual state and Local Government Area (LGA) levels. The position is contingent upon project award and funding, anticipated in summer of 2016.

Job Title: Deputy Chief of Party
Location: Abuja
Job Description
- Under the supervision of the Chief of Party, assists in developing and implementing innovative approaches to strengthening the capacity of Nigerian institutions and communities to deliver quality, malaria services.
- The OCOP provides management and technical oversight for project staff, with particular focus on the staff and operations at state level.
- Provides direct technical oversight and supports project activities across the project’s key technical areas. Assists project teams to develop and implement innovative approaches to capacity building.
- Supports project staff to ensure a high quality transfer of skills and knowledge to Nigerian institutions and communities.
- Works closely with other project managers to ensure a cohesive and targeted approach across project activities.
Qualifications
- Master's degree with at least 13-15 years of relevant experience, particularly in malaria control and care.
- At least 5 years of experience in a seniortechnical position for a public health and/or international development project, with experience at a USAID-funded project highly desirable.
- Significant experience in Nigeria, and able to demonstrate thorough knowledge of specific health priorities.
- Expertise in programming in malaria control projects or other relevant technical area.
- Candidates must have a minimum of a master’s degree in a relevant discipline, prior donor-funded experience related to health, and an outstanding professional reputation.
