Job Summary
- Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Audit to lead their internal audit function.
- The ideal candidate must have a minimum of atleast 10 years of audit experience and possess a deep understanding of the insurance industry.
- This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, assessing internal controls, and providing strategic insights to enhance operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Audit Strategy & Leadership:
- Develop and implement a risk-based audit plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Provide independent assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, and internal control processes.
- Lead and mentor the internal audit team to ensure high-performance standards.
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Assess and improve internal controls, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations and ICAN standards.
- Monitor adherence to financial reporting standards, regulatory guidelines, and corporate policies.
- Identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies to senior management.
Operational & Financial Audits:
- Conduct detailed audits of financial statements, operational processes, and IT systems.
- Analyze audit findings and provide actionable recommendations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Evaluate underwriting, claims processing, and investment portfolios for compliance and risk exposure.
Stakeholder Engagement & Reporting:
- Present audit reports to the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, and Senior Management.
- Provide insights and recommendations for improving financial and operational performance.
- Stay updated on emerging trends, IFRS, and regulatory changes impacting the insurance industry.
Key Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of internal/external audit experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- ICAN certification is mandatory.
- Strong background in the insurance industry, with expertise in underwriting, claims management, and financial reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of risk assessment methodologies, IFRS, and regulatory frameworks (NAICOM, FRC, CBN, SEC, etc.).
- Proven ability to lead audit teams and drive process improvements.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Additional certifications will be an added advantage
- Experience working with ERP systems and audit tools.
