Job Title: Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher 

Location: Lagos

Position Overview

  • We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher to join our team. 
  • The successful candidate will work closely with students who require additional support to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. 
  • This role involves developing and delivering tailored educational plans to meet the unique needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities
Individualized Instruction:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN, ensuring that teaching strategies and learning activities are personalized to each student's needs.
  • Adapt the curriculum to accommodate various learning styles and abilities, providing appropriate resources and support.

Assessment and Monitoring:

  • Regularly assess students' progress towards their learning objectives, adjusting teaching methods as necessary.
  • Maintain detailed records of student achievements and areas requiring further support.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with classroom teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to each student's education.
  • Engage with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, share strategies for support, and address any concerns.

Professional Development:

  • Stay informed about current SEN teaching strategies, resources, and legislation.
  • Participate in relevant training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification with a specialization in Special Educational Needs.
  • Proven experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including physical, emotional, and learning disabilities.
  • Strong understanding of SEN legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students' educational journeys.
