Job Title: Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant

Location: Maitama, Abuja
Job Type: Full-time

Job Summary

  • To support the class teacher in delivering high-quality teaching and learning experiences aligned with the British Curriculum, ensuring the academic, social, and emotional development of pupils in Key Stage 2.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and delivery of engaging, age-appropriate lessons and activities under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Provide targeted support to pupils, including those with additional needs, both in and outside of the classroom.
  • Help manage classroom behavior in line with the school’s positive behavior policy.
  • Support with assessment and record-keeping, including observations and reporting on pupil progress.
  • Prepare learning materials and maintain a stimulating learning environment.
  • Supervise pupils during break, lunch, or other non-teaching times as required.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom culture that reflects the values of Broad Oaks British School.
  • Participate in school events, professional development, and staff meetings.
  • Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies, ensuring the welfare and safety of all children.

Person Specification

  • A Degree in Education or its equivalent is required.
  • Prior experience supporting teaching in a British Curriculum or international school setting is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive, patient, and nurturing approach to supporting pupils.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Passionate about working with children and committed to their development and well-being.
