We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Ophthalmologist

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

  • An Ophthalmologist will diagnose and treat eye diseases, perform eye surgery, and prescribe and fit glasses or contact lenses. 
  • He / She will also provide routine eye exams and manage the overall health of the visual system. 
  • The primary job description will involve diagnosing and treating eye conditions, performing surgeries, and advising patients on eye health.

Responsibilities

  • Routine Eye Exams: Performing comprehensive eye exams to assess visual acuity, peripheral vision, and overall eye health.
  • Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye diseases.
  • Surgical Procedures: Performing eye surgeries, including cataract surgery, laser surgery, and other ophthalmic surgeries.
  • Prescribing Corrective Lenses: Prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems.
  • Patient Education and Counseling: Educating patients about their eye conditions, vision correction options, and lifestyle changes.
  • Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care for patients.
  • Staying Up-to-Date: Keeping abreast of emerging trends and advancements in ophthalmology.
  • Managing Clinics: Managing emergency eye clinics, outpatient clinics, and other specialist eye clinics.
  • Performing Specialized Tests: Ordering and interpreting specialized tests and imaging examinations.

Requirements

  • Candidates should have a Medical Degree (MD or DO).
  • Specialized Residency: Completion of a four-year residency program in ophthalmology.
  • Board Certification: Obtaining board certification in ophthalmology from the Board of Ophthalmology.
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as an ophthalmologist.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient management skills are crucial, along with strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
